Comprehensive Pediatric Care Community Life

In collaboration with our Primary Program Specialists, we create individualized social and recreational pediatric care plans, including indoor and outdoor activities. These ISPs (Individual Service Plans) are developed for each child by our interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, care providers, and families. Physical, occupational, and speech therapies may be included in ISPs as needed to support comprehensive pediatric care.

At Pediatric Specialty Care, we emphasize a sense of community and children are encouraged to play, learn, and grow together.

Education is an integral part of every child’s life. PSC provides educational opportunities on-site and in classrooms within the local community for our school-age children. Our Medical Director assesses each child’s ability to attend a local school based on their medical status and stability of their condition. They will also determine if an accompanying nurse is required. Any child who is not ready to participate in a traditional off-site classroom will receive educational services on-site at their Pediatric Specialty Care community.

Our educational program includes:

• Early intervention services
• Intermediate unit services
• Individualized activities as needed

In addition to providing comprehensive pediatric care in a friendly, child-centered environment with peers, we are proud of the strong ties Pediatric Specialty Care has developed with our surrounding communities. Participation in our Community Life Program includes enriching events such as visits to parks, local libraries, sporting events, and the beach.

In line with our mission to provide excellent pediatric care, we have also created integration programs that encourage friendships between individuals who are developmentally delayed and others without disabilities. This fun and rewarding interaction helps educate our communities about the gifts of children with special healthcare needs.

Community involvement is an essential aspect of our comprehensive pediatric care experience at Pediatric Specialty Care. Our team of pediatric care specialists believes that every child has a right to play, socialize, and have fun! Some of our seasonal activities include magician performances, local trips to the beach, scarecrow contests, apple picking, and holiday gift giving.

• We have a calendar of events offering group and individual activities that support your child’s developmental needs, building on their strengths and interests.
• We offer early intervention playgroups which incorporate songs, books, toys, and crafts, as well as after school recreational and social groups.
• The children also enjoy “sensational” activities involving all of their senses. This can be a fun, fanciful hand massage, listening to playful or soothing music, stimulating aromatherapy, or playing in the sand or water table.
• Some of the other playful activities offered at PSC includes parachute play, ball play, musical experiences, and more.
• All children are also offered the opportunity to participate in fun, messy art projects like chocolate making!

In order to maximize your child’s enjoyment at PSC, all activities are tailored to meet your child’s needs. Some children require hand-over-hand assistance, while others are more independent; some participate passively, enjoying the company and environment of their peers. Every child is unique and special, and we believe everyone can find enjoyment in these events designed to support comprehensive pediatric care.

Holidays, birthdays, and other thematic events are also a part of our Community Life.

Whether through regularly scheduled classes, seasonal parties, or special events, our team of passionate pediatric care professionals are always looking to explore each child’s curiosity and create opportunities for growth in new experiences.

In addition to our engaging, individualized programs for the children, Pediatric Specialty Care also hosts family events throughout the year. These thoughtfully planned occasions give families a chance to meet, share experiences with their children, and engage in entertaining activities.
