PSC Fall 2019 Highlights at our Communities

Category: General

Community and socialization are integral parts of daily life at PSC. Engaging the children, staff and families brings a sense of togetherness, tradition, routine, comfort and even hope amongst the daily challenge of medically fragile and technology dependent children.

PSC at Hopewell’s 2019 Fall Fest was held on October 12, 2019. The children were entertained with a Pumpkin Patch theme, including crafts, face painting, and pumpkin painting. Families joined in the fun, and everyone enjoyed the pumpkin chili, snacks and treats. The Hopewell team also celebrated Halloween by dressing the children in costumes, setting up “trick or treat” sensory stations, making a craft, watching Halloween movies, and providing treats for staff. The staff costume theme was “food”. PSC Hopewell staff and children also took a field trip to a local pumpkin patch and enjoyed a hayride.

PSC at Lancaster’s Fall 2019 has been an active one! The staff embraced the beautiful Fall weather, taking the children on field trips to the Lancaster Science Factory, Lake Tobias, local fairs, and local shows, just to name a few.

PSC at Philadelphia celebrated the Fall with a family celebration, including a performer, face painting, crafts, and a hay sensory table. The children were surrounded by friends and family, and everyone enjoyed a special lunch and cupcakes. These events are a wonderful opportunity for the PSC children and their siblings to bond. The Philadelphia team also held a Halloween Spooktacular! The dayroom was filled with sensory bins including Jell-O, spaghetti, foam, and kidney beans. The staff incorporated sensory activities with taste tests as a few children enjoyed Halloween cupcakes. Staff and children dressed in costumes and held a dance party with bubbles. Some children were able to go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood/around the building. To finish off the day, the children made “dirt” pudding. The children also took a field trip to Peddlers village to see the scarecrow that they built. They took a ride on the carousel and spent time in the sensory area at Giggleberry fair. The children loved making wishes and throwing coins into the well, riding the carousel, and playing on the fire truck!

PSC at Point Pleasant celebrated Fall with apple picking at Solebury Orchards. The Point Pleasant team also hosted a Fall Festival, a magical day filled with a special visit from Mickey and Minnie.
